We Took the First Step

It has been four years since Mike and I brought our son, Colby, home from Russia. On that day, Feb 21, 2009, we became a family. A family of three. Colby is now 5 1/2 and in Kindergarten. He is super smart, super funny, and a super great kid. Sure, he has his moments of stubbornness, but don't we all? We have been truly blessed to have him in our lives.

And so, after 4 years, it is time. It is time to add to our little family. With politics as they are, we are unable to return to Russia. The Russian President has ended adoptions to the U.S. Although very sad, I know we must move on. So, we are moving ahead with our adoption journey, to the land of China. Our initial paperwork is at the agency as of Jan 31st. We have to update our homestudy and thankfully it will be completed by our original social worker. I am very excited to reunite with Christine and let her see Colby after so many years. We have been told it could be about 10 months process. I am hoping to return with our new child before Christmas, but we shall see. We are hoping for a child age 2 or younger, as Colby was when he came home. I would love a little girl but we are leaving it open to either.

So, our journey has begun. I hope you will join us on our next adoption adventure!

    1. We are going through the China Special Needs program. It is a different program than the traditional China program which is a VERY long wait. We will be looking for a child 2 or younger that has been classified with a special need. We will choose the needs that we are comfortable with (poor eye sight, cleft lip/palate, other medical issues, etc.).
